William Morris decorated his own garden at Kelmscott Manor with many of the same flowers he reproduced in his wallpaper patterns. This elegant, symmetrical design features sunflowers, tulips and grapevines printed onto a 200-thread count, cotton base. This reversible bedlinen is coloured in a rich ink blue tone on the face and a soft, linen shade on the reverse. William Morris described the beloved sunflower as both interesting and beautiful, with its sharply chiselled yellow florets relieved by the quaintly patterned sad-coloured centre clogged with honey and beset with bees and butterflies.
